Fundraising Gig: The Jade

Catherine House Fundraiser featuring Jen Lush Band, Bridget Fahey & the Bone Rattlers, Cherry Daisies and Layla Indiana.

At the time of writing this 52 women have been killed by men’s violence in Australia this year and frontline services for women extracting themselves from domestic violence situations in this country are woefully inadequate. Organisations such as Catherine House that provide emergency accommodation for women are often the only options available and it is therefore imperative that we as a community support them in any way that we can.

With that in mind please join us at The Jade on September 6 to enjoy the wonderful vibes of four wonderful Adelaide artists as well as an auction of great works by local artists. All profits from this event will go directly to Catherine House to enable them to continue providing vital services to women in Adelaide.

Services like Catherine house are seriously overworked and don’t have capacity to help everyone who requires it, so extra money in donations would be very much appreciated.

Jen Lush:  Adelaide singer-songwriter Jen Lush is known for her dynamic, intimate and adventurous new music. With influences ranging from Feist, Iron & Wine, Anais Mitchell, these are tender folk songs flung into evocative, experimental rock infused soundscapes with storytelling at the centre taking Jen and her stellar band to festivals and venues throughout South Australia, Victoria, NSW, WA and Tasmania. After a decade with folk band Cat Dog Bird, and her debut solo album of poem songs ‘The Night’s Insomnia’, Jen and her band-folk (James Brown, Paul Angas, Sam Cagney and Mark Seddon) released ‘Let Loose The Beating Birds’ (2021) and brand new album ‘Hum of the mettle’ in August this year.

Bridget Fahey and the Bone Rattlers:  The Bone Rattlers is gritty pub folk with a twang of alt-country. They have had the privilege of playing with Magic Dirt’s Adalita, Pat the Bunny, at A day of Clarity, Not Fest 7, Isolaid’s Folk unlocked, the Adelaide Fringe as well as the Adelaide Roller Derby.  For fans who love Beasts of Bourbon, The Kills and Courtney Barnett.

Cherry Daisies:  Cherry Daises are an indie pop band local to Adelaide, South Australia. The five piece blend’s piano and violin creating an eclectic style along with guitar bass and drums. The band focuses on creating intimate moments of self expression.

Layla Indiana:  Layla Indiana is an emerging artist within the music community. Layla has been singing since she was a child and spent 2023 singing covers as part of an acoustic duo. This year, Layla is focusing on finding her own sound, which is hauntingly beautiful. Layla’s original music is heartbreaking and relatable, telling the stories of her complicated and messy brain and the struggles that come along with this.
